Flexible PCB and rigid-flex PCB solve related but different problems. A flexible PCB is usually chosen for bending, folding or compact cable routing. A rigid-flex structure combines flexible sections with rigid support areas so components can be mounted with better mechanical stability.

Choose flexible PCB when
- The circuit mainly works as an interconnect cable.
- The product needs a thin, light and bendable circuit.
- Components are limited or can be mounted on supported areas.
- Prototype speed and cost control are the main priorities.

Choose rigid-flex when
- The design needs stable component mounting and flexible routing in one structure.
- Connectors, chips or sensors need a rigid support zone.
- The product has tight internal space and fewer board-to-board connectors are preferred.
- Mechanical reliability is more important than the lowest prototype price.
Before requesting a quote, send the drawing with bend area, rigid area, total thickness and assembly notes clearly marked. This helps the factory review both manufacturing feasibility and the best production route.
