A fast FPC prototype quotation usually depends less on negotiation and more on file clarity. When the manufacturer can understand the stack-up, outline, bend area, connector position and quantity target from the first RFQ, the review moves faster and the quote is more reliable.
Core files to prepare
- Gerber files with copper, solder mask, silkscreen, coverlay and drill layers.
- A production drawing showing outline size, tolerance, total thickness and special notes.
- Material and structure requirements, including PI thickness, copper thickness and stiffener material.
- Surface finish preference such as ENIG, immersion tin or OSP when the choice is already defined.
- Quantity, target lead time and delivery destination.
Assembly and connector details
If the prototype includes connector installation, SMT components or a rigid support area, include the BOM, placement file, connector model and sample photo if available. These details help the factory check fixture needs, connector height, soldering risk and inspection method before confirming price.
Avoid these common delays
- Sending only a product photo without dimensions or drawings.
- Leaving quantity blank when prototype, pilot run and volume prices are all needed.
- Missing stiffener thickness or adhesive notes.
- Using old revision files without marking the final revision.
